WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say an arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old girl during a fight that began on a bus in northwest Washington.

Media outlets report that police say the fight began on a Metrobus on Monday night and continued as the girl got off along Emerson Street, where she was stabbed in the chest.

The Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement Tuesday that officers responding to a report of a stabbing found 17-year-old Kaelia Minor of northwest Washington suffering from a stab wound. Minor was taken to a hospital, where police say she was pronounced dead.

Metro officials say 18-year-old Kyla Jones has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge in the case. It was not known whether Jones has a lawyer who could comment.
