SEBASTOPOL, Calif. (AP) - A second man wounded in gunfire that broke out during a marijuana deal that turned violent in Sonoma County has died.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old John Mariana died of his injuries Tuesday. Mariana was one of three people shot Saturday at a rural home in Sebastopol where authorities also found a greenhouse and garden with potted marijuana plants.

Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Spencer Crum tells the Santa Rosa Press Democrat (https://bit.ly/2er1TBD) 36-year-old Nathan Proto was killed at the scene. An unidentified woman remains in critical condition at a hospital.

Crum says the woman called authorities to report the incident.

He says it isn’t clear whether the suspect or suspects got away with any cash or pot.

Detectives are investigating whether the garden was being grown in compliance with state and local medical marijuana rules.
