SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a high school student accused of bringing a firearm to campus.

Local news organizations report that Shreveport police arrested 18 year-old Cameron Morris on Tuesday after he was found in possession of a firearm at Booker T. Washington High School.

Shreveport police spokesman Marcus Hines says the school’s resource officer saw the student remove an unknown item from his backpack moments before school officials conducted a random search. The officer then inspected the item and determined that it was an unloaded revolver.

Morris faces charges of possession of a weapon on a school campus. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
