BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) - Officials in Brunswick County have placed restrictions on water usage after water main broke and an attempt to fix it failed.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports (https://bit.ly/2ei3g9d) officials declared a state of emergency on Wednesday, meaning mandatory water restrictions remain in effect. That means a ban on all outdoor water uses aside from commercial car washes.

The restrictions cover all Brunswick County except for Bald Head Island, which utilizes its own water supply.

A news release said the county’s risk of running out of water “has increased substantially.” The release said county water levels did go down during the attempted repair, although crews were trying to make repairs on Wednesday.
