CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A former federal prison inmate in Berlin, New Hampshire, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for fashioning a 6-inch piece of plastic into a stabbing weapon.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said the item was found in 30-year-old Joshua Starr’s bed during a routine search in November 2015.

Starr was previously convicted in federal court in New Hampshire for possession of a similar weapon as an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Berlin. He was given a 15-month sentence in that case, to be served consecutively to a sentence for an armed carjacking.
