RENO, Nevada (AP) - A freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno is in critical condition after a fall at the campus’ Sigma Nu fraternity house.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/2dnGgpD ) that Ryan Abele was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center after the Sunday morning incident. UNR said in a statement that the university and police are investigating.

An online fundraising page for Abele says he had extensive bleeding on his brain and was immediately taken into surgery.

Calls to Sigma Nu have not been immediately returned. UNR says the fraternity’s national office, based in Virginia, is also investigating.

The university says Sigma Nu will not be allowed to operate on campus during the investigation.

Abele graduated from a Catholic high school in California. The school held a prayer vigil for him on Monday.
