DETROIT (AP) - An archery range in Detroit is being dedicated to a Michigan Department of Natural Resources official who died in a plane crash while on duty last year.

First Lieutenant Arthur A. Green III was district law supervisor for DNR’s District 9 in southeastern Michigan. He worked in the Detroit Customer Service Center, housed within the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center.

Green became a DNR conservation officer in 1996 after 10 years of service with the Detroit Police Department.

He was involved with the transition of Belle Isle Park in Detroit to DNR management and played a role with the DNR Youth Conservation Academy in Detroit.

The fatal plane crash happened Aug. 9, 2015, in Emmet County.

The archery range ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.
