MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - A Burlington Township police officer is charged with vehicular homicide in an off-duty crash that killed a passenger in his car.

Prosecutors say toxicology test results show 25-year-old Justin Rodriguez had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Florence Township on Sept. 23. The crash killed his passenger, 27-year-old Ariana Williams of Florence.

Rodriguez has been suspended without pay from the police department, where he had worked for 11 months.

It’s not known if Rodriguez has a lawyer.
