BRUNSWICK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say three people are in custody in Virginia in connection with the discovery of two bodies found a day apart in upstate New York.

Police in the city of Troy confirm Thursday that arrests have been made in the investigation into the slaying of a man in Troy and the death of a man whose body was found in a creek in a neighboring town. Officials say both killings could be connected.

Troy police say 23-year-old Javier Gomez was found dead in his apartment Monday.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office says a woman walking her dog spotted a man’s body in a dry creek bed the next evening in the town of Brunswick, just east of Troy. That victim hasn’t been publicly identified yet but authorities say they believe he was connected to Gomez.
