Rep. Brian Babin on Thursday defended Donald Trump for calling Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman” at the final presidential debate.

“You know what, she’s saying some nasty things,” Mr. Babin said Thursday night on the “Alan Colmes Show.”

“I’m a genteel Southerner, Alan,” the Texas Republican continued. “I think sometimes a lady needs to be told when she’s being nasty.”

Mr. Babin, who said Mr. Trump won Wednesday night’s debate “hands down,” said Mrs. Clinton has too much “baggage.”

“I think she’s done some nasty things,” he said.

Mr. Babin repeated that line several times when pressed by Mr. Colmes, but he refused to label Mrs. Clinton a “nasty woman.”

Near the end of the debate Wednesday, Mrs. Clinton was answering a question about Social Security and Medicare when she said, “My Social Security payroll contribution will go up, as will Donald’s, assuming he can’t figure out how to get out of it.”

The dig prompted the Republican nominee to lean into the microphone and say, “such a nasty woman,” sparking the viral anti-Trump hashtag #nastywoman.

“From one #NastyWoman to another, you were an inspiration last night, @HillaryClinton. -NP,” tweeted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
