JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 73-year-old Jacksonville bar owner was attacked while walking home less than six hours after thousands of dollars were stolen from his vehicle.

Greybeards Tavern owner Curtis Kimbler first spoke with WJXT-TV (https://bit.ly/2dtnyYR) Tuesday after the bar’s surveillance video captured someone breaking into his truck, which was parked outside.

The suspect stole about $4,000 in cash from the bank deposit bags inside the vehicle.

Later that evening, friends say Kimbler, was headed home from another bar when someone attacked him. His wife called 911 after he showed up at home bloody. He was then taken to a hospital, where he stayed for two days. Kimbler had to get stitches and sustained bruises on his face.

It’s unclear if the two incidents are connected.
