LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) - A Lawrence man has been ordered held without bail after he was charged in two separate sexual assaults, including an alleged attack on a 13-year-old girl on her way to school.

Twenty-one-year-old Angel Mateo has been charged with kidnapping and rape of a child with force. According to police, the girl was walking to school when Mateo dragged her into his apartment Thursday morning.

After news coverage of the incident, police were contacted by a 27-year-old woman who believed Mateo attacked her on May 28. Mateo is charged in that case with assault with intent to rape and assault and battery.

Mateo’s lawyer declined to comment, saying he has not investigated the allegations yet.

Mateo pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Friday in Lawrence District Court.
