DOVER, N.H. (AP) - Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover will host a community forum next month on a plan for the hospital to be acquired by Massachusetts General.

Foster’s Daily Democrat (https://bit.ly/2dTikXe ) reports that representatives from Wentworth-Douglass and Massachusetts General Hospital will present information about the proposed acquisition and answer questions at the Nov. 3 forum.

Officials announced in April that the hospital would become a part of Massachusetts General’s family of hospitals pending a regulatory review, which could take six to nine months.

Wentworth-Douglass would retain its name under the plan and remain an independently licensed, not-for-profit, charitable health care organization. It would also maintain its own board of trustees, medical staff and fundraising activities.

The hospitals expect the acquisition to take effect by the end of 2016 or shortly thereafter.
