GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (AP) - Five people died in an early morning house fire in Gwinnett County, officials said Sunday.

The blaze happened in a 2-story house in an unincorporated part of Duluth. Officials did not say exactly who the victims were.

A neighbor called 911 to report the fire around 3:30 a.m. When firefighters got there flames were so intense they had to battle the blaze from the outside for 45 minutes before being able to get inside.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire, although neighbors reported that the family had been using their fire pit on Saturday night.

“They had a bon fire outside and I believe they thought they had put the fire out,” said neighbor Jessica Fields.

Fields was the one who noticed the blaze Sunday morning. She said she used to see the family a lot.

“Every day you see them passing by. to longer see them anymore, it’s a traumatic event. I feel for that family,” Fields told the TV station.
