CASTLETON, Vt. (AP) - Kids can learn about creepy-crawly critters and dress in Halloween costumes at the 5th annual Halloween Wildlife Festival and jack-o’-lantern hike in Castleton at the end of the month.

The event takes place Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Edward F. Kehoe Green Mountain Conservation Camp Education Center.

Organizers say students from Green Mountain College’s environmental education and interpretation program will lead fun and educational programs.

The activities include a nature hike along a trail lit with carved pumpkins, wildlife-related activities and face painting.

The event is free and open to the public.
