NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a North Little Rock man who was found severely beaten has died and a suspect is in custody.

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Capt. Carl Minden says 42-year-old Alexander Wyles died Saturday at a hospital where he was taken after being found injured Friday night at a home in northeast North Little Rock.

Minden says the suspect was arrested shortly before Wyles’ death for first-degree battery and the charge may be upgraded to murder. Online court records do not show that charges have been formally filed.

Minden says Wyles was apparently beaten with a piece of lumber.
