BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a tractor trailer has crashed, causing a massive chain reaction on a major freeway north of Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says an accident involving a commercial cattle hauler and as many as 20 vehicles occurred Sunday afternoon on I-17 in Black Canyon City.

There were no immediate reports on the number or nature of injuries.

Phoenix firefighters say they are dispatching engines and ambulances per a request from local officials.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the accident has led to the closure of all southbound lanes on I-17.

Motorists should expect delays.

They are being advised to take alternative routes to get to I-17 such as SR 260 eastbound to SR 87 southbound.

Black Canyon City is about 55 miles north of downtown Phoenix.
