ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A man who shot and killed someone after a fight at an Asheville nightclub will spend at least 16 years in prison.

District Attorney Todd Williams said in a news release that 24-year-old Leonardo Feliciano pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Monday.

Williams says he accepted the plea deal because there were problems gathering evidence to convict Feliciano of first-degree murder in the dark, crowded Paparazzi Bar & Grill in May 2015.

Prosecutors say in a phone call to an inmate Feliciano said he was in the club and asked why 23-year-old Michael Wilkerson had to mess with him.

Officials revoked the alcohol license of the club where the shooting happened. It was the second fatal shooting in eight years at the site.
