CLAYTON, N.C. (AP) - Two men have been arrested following a chase and a shooting involving a North Carolina sheriff’s deputy.

The statement said someone in the vehicle fired at the officer during the chase, which ended in a cul-de-sac.

The vehicle turned around and sped toward the deputy, who fired, resulting in a wreck.

No one was hurt.

Nineteen-year-old Datrel K, Lyons of Clayton and 23-year-old Gerald Thomas Holmes III of Smithfield have been charged with attempted first degree murder and conspiracy.

Both of the suspects are black. The race of the officer was no immediately available.
