LIVINGSTON, Calif. (AP) - The body of a 3-year-old boy reported missing over the weekend in Central California was found trapped in an irrigation canal. No foul play is suspected.

The Merced Sun Star reports (https://bit.ly/2eN17Qz) the boy was found Monday trapped in the waters of an irrigation canal near Delhi, about 2 miles from the spot in Livingston where he is believed to have fallen into the fast-moving waters.

His father, Andres Tomas, told the newspaper hi son, also named Andres Tomas, was playing in the yard at his grandmother’s Livingston home when she lost sight of him and “he just disappeared” Saturday.

Tomas says the boy’s grandmother was watching him while he was at work and the boy’s mother was washing clothes.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office arranged with the canal operators to slow the water flow, which helped rescue crews locate the body.
