TOWAMENCIN, Pa. (AP) - Part of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been blocked in the Philadelphia suburbs by a crash involving four tractor-trailers and several cars.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 476 in Towamencin, Montgomery County.

It was not immediately clear if anybody is hurt, or how badly.

Police have closed all northbound lanes of the highway at Lansdale.

Drivers are encouraged to take other highways, including Route 309.
