ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Police say a 16-year-old student has died after he was struck by a vehicle near Huron High School.

The Ann Arbor News reports that Ann Arbor Public Schools identified the student Tuesday as Qi-Xuan Tang.

He was struck about 7:20 a.m. WDIV-TV reports that police say the driver who struck the teen stopped at the scene.

District Superintendent Jeanice Swift told parents in an email that Tang was in the 11th grade at Community High School.

Swift wrote that he “was a highly engaged student at Community High School, an academic high-performer and was very involved in Community Ensemble Theater.”
