MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The University of Memphis has suspended two football players who were involved in an alleged fight and one of the players later had his car hit by bullets.

Wide receiver Jae’Lon Oglesby and cornerback Kam Prewitt were indefinitely suspended on Wednesday. The Commercial Appeal reports (https://memne.ws/2ecnfTp ) the alleged fight happened on Tuesday, and several shots were fired at Oglesby’s car later that night.

Coach Mike Norvell declined to make a statement about the incident while an investigation is ongoing.

Oglesby told police that he was sitting in his apartment when he heard several gunshots outside. His car was hit by bullets in several spots, according to a police report. Oglesby told officers that he had a physical altercation with Prewitt earlier in the day.

Neither player was at practice Wednesday.
