PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say two teenage girls pushing a disabled car toward a gas station were seriously injured when another car struck them from behind.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says four girls ages 15 to 17 were in the car late Tuesday night when it ran out of gas and that the wreck occurred after two got out to push the car.

The other two girls were not injured.

Lewis says the driver of the other car had minor injuries in the crash and that circumstances of the wreck remain under investigation.

Identities were not released.

The wreck occurred on West Cactus Road just west of Interstate 17.
