HICKORY, N.C. (AP) - A spokeswoman for the Hickory Police Department says one of its officers had her weapon and duty belt stolen from her off-duty vehicle.

Spokeswoman Chrystal Dieter told local media outlets that the vehicle was unlocked and parked outside a Wal-Mart when the theft occurred on Monday. The officer’s name hasn’t been released.

Officials say the duty belt included two magazines, handcuffs, pepper spray, a baton and a flashlight

The department says an investigation is underway, and police are looking at surveillance video from the store.
