PROVO, Utah (AP) - Utah County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspected homicide after hunters discovered human remains in a shallow grave near the Sanpete County border.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Wesley Dee Nay of Mount Pleasant. He had been reported missing on Sept. 18.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon said Tuesday the hunters contacted authorities when they came across the remains last week. He told The Daily Herald in Provo (https://tinyurl.com/jzxn5yp) the cause of death has not been determined pending an autopsy.
He says forensic scientists had to use dental records to identify the victim due to the deteriorating condition of the body.
