BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Investigators have recovered a burned body after a 911 call about a person or possibly a mannequin on fire on a Southeast Texas road.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says authorities worked Thursday to try to identify the woman.

A sheriff’s statement says the remains were located Wednesday night near Beaumont after a motorist called 911 to report seeing what appeared to be a mannequin or a person on fire.

Deputies arrived and extinguished the blaze. Investigators determined that a human body had been set on fire.
