PHOENIX (AP) - The former suspect in a series of Phoenix freeway shootings last year is out on $1,000 bond after allegedly violating a recent order of protection filed by his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

Court records show Leslie Merritt Jr. was arrested by Glendale police Wednesday night after allegedly threatening the woman at her residence.

The 22-year-old Merritt is scheduled to appear Nov. 8 in Glendale City Court to face charges of failing to comply with a court order and issuing threats.

Merritt had been the only named suspect in four of 11 shootings that caused panic on Phoenix-area freeways in August and September of 2015.

An expert for the prosecution determined bullets in those four incidents couldn’t be linked to Merritt’s firearm.

Merritt spent seven months in jail before his release in April.
