OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby have announced a partnership to create a resort at Lake Texoma.

The plans announced Thursday include a casino, hotel, restaurant and gift shop and up to 10 waterfront cottages.

Officials say the project is the result of a settlement by the Commissioners of the Land Office.

A private developer bought the property in 2006 and the Lake Texoma Lodge and Resort was demolished, but plans for a resort fell through with developers blaming the economic downturn of 2008.

The development will be off U.S. 70, near the site of the former lodge.

The Chickasaw Nation must first apply to place the land into trust status - a process that could take months.
