BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 4-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a car in western New York.

Investigators say it appears the child ran out into the street in front of the vehicle on Tuesday evening in Buffalo. He later died at a hospital.

The boy hasn’t been publicly identified.

Police say a preliminary investigation shows speed wasn’t a factor in the crash. The driver is cooperating.

No charges have been filed.

An investigation is ongoing.
