NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - State police say a car going westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90 hit another car head-on killing both drivers.

Master Trooper Brooks David (DAH’-veed) says the accident happened early Friday morning near New Iberia.

David identified the dead as 22-year-old Cypress Boudreaux (BOO’-droh) of St. Martinville and 38-year-old Tessie Sylvester of New Iberia

He said Boudreaux was driving her car on the wrong side of Highway 90 crashing into Sylvester’s car.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office.
