ZEBULON, N.C. (AP) - One clerk has been shot and killed and another has been injured in a shooting during a robbery at a convenience store in Johnston County.

The sheriff’s department said in a news release that the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday at the store near Zebulon.

The sheriff’s department said 29-year-old Al Shami Esmail was found dead in the store. Another man, 51-year-old Ricky Lynch, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Raleigh hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said video footage from the store show two masked people entering the store and robbing the clerk. During the robbery, the suspects fired shots and then quickly left the store.

The video showed the suspects leaving in a dark sedan. No arrests have been made.
