ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - Firefighters say no one was hurt, but a St. Johnsbury, Vermont, apartment building was heavily damaged by a fire that left nine people homeless.
Police say the fire at the four-apartment building on Elm Street was reported at about 8 a.m. Friday.
When emergency crews the front of the building was fully engulfed in flames.
Officer Adrian Hahr says a makeshift heating source on the front porch is the likely cause of the fire.
It took about 90 minutes to extinguish the fire.
