BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Investigators have identified a body found burning on a Southeast Texas road as a woman from Beaumont.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Friday identified the homicide victim as 50-year-old Cordy Simmons. Officials identified Simmons through fingerprints.

Sheriff’s officials say the body was located Wednesday night near Beaumont after a motorist called 911 to report seeing what appeared to be a mannequin or a person on fire.

Authorities did not immediately provide additional information on how Simmons died. No one has been arrested.
