LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas detectives are hoping to identify the body of a young woman by her tattoos.

Authorities say the black woman in her early 20s was shot and left to die on a sidewalk early Wednesday. Police believe she was shot once in the stomach and that the shooter then stood over her and shot her again in the head.

Police released photos of the tattoos Thursday. They include a butterfly tattoo near her left collarbone and a bird on her right shoulder. The bird has the words “love,” ”faith” and “serenity” inked around it.

Several witnesses told police they heard gunshots but did not witness the shooting.
