GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A homeless man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing a taxi driver in Millsboro.

The Department of Justice said in an email Friday that 25-year-old Joshua Dutton was sentenced this week for the strangulation death of 45-year-old William Toomey.

Prosecutors say Toomey picked Dutton up as a fare in Rehoboth Beach in August 2014. Authorities say Dutton used his belt to strangle Toomey, stole his money and fled.

Dutton pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
