SEATTLE (AP) - Authorities say a search is underway for a man last seen on a 14-foot skiff west of a Seattle marina.

The U.S. Coast Guard said in a news release that authorities were notified Friday afternoon of a vessel adrift and debris in the water about a half mile from the Shilshole Bay Marina.

The man who called authorities said he had seen the vessel with a person aboard about 30 minutes before.

Coast Guard officials were able to determine through boat documents that it was purchased last week and delivered to the marina Friday.

The owner reportedly told delivery people that he intended to sail from the marina to North Bainbridge Island.

Officials describe the man as white, 6 foot 6, with brown hair and weighing about 350 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound at 206-217-6001.
