TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) - A Los Angeles County judge sentenced a former high school wrestling coach to more than 64 years in prison Friday for lewd acts on students that included touching their genitals during what he said were inspections for skin disease.

Thomas Joseph Snider was convicted earlier in October of victimizing 25 Torrance High School students while working as a wrestling coach in 1995, 1996 and from 2013 and 2015.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said the 48-year-old Snider molested students between the ages of 13 and 16 years old during the skin inspections, during which he would ask wrestlers to disrobe. He also massaged several students and watched others shower.

Officials at the school learned of behavior after Torrance wrestlers told opponents about it.
