HOWELL, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two men were killed when their car ran off the road and hit several trees in Monmouth County.

Howell Township police say 31-year-old Ronald McGhee, of Manchester, and 25-year-old Justin Mercer, of Toms River, were killed in the crash on Hurley Pond Road.

Authorities say McGhee’s car left the roadway around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Authorities say it did not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the accident.
