ATLANTA (AP) - An Atlanta chef recently awarded for cooking the best shrimp and grits in Georgia will soon prepare his winning dish for Gov. Nathan Deal.

Andrew Smith, chef at the Atlanta restaurant West Egg Cafe, took home the $2,000 top prize and title of “Georgia’s Best Shrimp and Grits” last month. He competed with eight teams of chefs from across Georgia at the Jekyll Island Shrimp & Grits Festival.

On Tuesday, Smith will head to the governor’s mansion to cook his prize-winning dish for Deal and his wife, Sandra.

Smith was the only chef at the Jekyll Island competition to cook by himself, besting competitors that worked in teams of two or three chefs.
