EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - A South Texas mother remains jailed after being arrested in connection with her 14-month-old son’s beating death.
The Monitor in McAllen reports (https://bit.ly/2dXUHfp ) investigators allege 23-year-old Kassandra Monserrat Alvarez Ramos failed to report her boyfriend had punched her son on several occasions.
The Weslaco mother was charged with injury to a child by omission. Jail records didn’t list an attorney for Ramos.
Her boyfriend, Freddy Armand Muniz has been charged with capital murder and injury to a child.
The boy died earlier this month after being taken to a hospital for his injuries, which included four broken ribs.
According to a criminal complaint, authorities allege Ramos first told investigators her son had been injured after falling from a trampoline but later acknowledged to seeing Muniz punching the boy.
