MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Natural Resources Board is accepting applications for a permit required in major development projects online in an effort to simplify and expedite the state’s permitting process.

The Times-Argus (https://bit.ly/2dDxr7D ) reports NRC Chairwoman Diane Snelling recently announced that Act 250 permit applications will be submitted electronically beginning Monday.

Snelling says online filing will help improve the distribution and convenience of getting materials to parties involved in an Act 250 permit application. She says it will also allow interested citizens to access information about projects more easily.

Act 250 commissioners are already using projectors to view documents electronically during hearings.

Snelling says online filing and distribution of documents is the first step in a line of changes she hopes to implement to make the process easier.
