MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Dozens of children showed up for an event that combined Halloween with a group’s promotion of in-line hockey.

The Journal (https://bit.ly/2eX5yed ) reports more than 100 kids participated in the “Rink-or-Treat” event at Oaksdale Park in Martinsburg on Sunday.

The event was sponsored by the Berkeley County In-Line Hockey League, which is open to children ages 5 to 18.

Treats were handed out as children shot a puck into a net or around pumpkins.

It marked the first time the league attempted a Halloween outreach event.

League coach Ryan Agoney says many parents took fliers and information packets about the league. He says he considers the event a success if the league can get 10 kids to sign up.
