RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Two men will stand trial for the decade-old murder of three people at a remote Riverside County home.

A judge on Monday ruled there’s enough evidence to try Robert Pape and Cristin Smith for murder.

Pape could face the death penalty and Smith, who was a minor at the time of the killings, could get life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors believe they killed Jon Hayward, Vicki Friedli and Friedli’s 18-year-old daughter, Becky, in 2006.

Hayward and Friedli were shot and left in their burning home in the mountain community of Pinyon Pines. Becky’s burned corpse was found in a wheelbarrow.

Authorities haven’t mentioned a motive but Pape was Becky’s ex-boyfriend.
