BOSTON (AP) - Five people have been injured following an accident involving a fire truck.

Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn said the crash happened Monday at around 11:30 a.m. at an intersection in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood.

Four firefighters and the driver of another vehicle were taken to the hospital. Finn said their injuries were non-life threatening.

Finn said Fire Engine 7 had been responding to a report of smoky conditions at a residence when the accident happened. The incident that prompted the fire truck’s initial response ultimately turned out to be “benign,” he said.

The area has been closed to traffic as officials investigate the cause of the crash. At least one other vehicle was involved in the accident and a number of parked cars were also damaged.
