NEW YORK (AP) - A former New York City correction officer is facing up to 25 years behind bars after he was convicted of manslaughter in the 2014 shooting of his daughter’s boyfriend.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says 58-year-old Darryl Brown will be sentenced Oct. 19 for killing 21-year-old Vonde Cabbagestalk.

Brown was off duty when the incident occurred. Prosecutors say a dispute escalated in the lobby of an apartment building in the Wakefield neighborhood.

Witnesses say Brown pulled a gun and fired when Cabbagestalk tried to take it. Cabbagestalk was fatally struck in the chest.
