STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Police in Georgia have fatally shot a person described as a robbery suspect.

A statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday as officers responded to a report of a robbery and home invasion in Statesboro in southeast Georgia.

The agency says three people reportedly entered a home and held the occupants at gunpoint before officers arrived.

The GBI says one suspect was arrested but another fled. The statement says officers located that person and tried to subdue him with a stun gun but failed.

The GBI says the second person had a gun and shots were fired. The suspect was fatally wounded.

Statesboro police are looking for the third suspect, who got away.

State investigators haven’t released the name or race of anyone involved.
