WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Police in New Jersey say a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with cyber harassment stemming from separate social media clown threats.

Washington Township police say the girl, who is a Bunker Hill Middle School student, made broad threats against students that became more specific and included names and addresses of individuals.

WCAU-TV reports the threats said people should be scared and shouldn’t walk alone.

Police say a boy, who is a Washington Township High School student, has been charged with making similar threats. WPVI-TV reports police say his threats were more of a general threat to the public.

Philadelphia police say a 13-year-old girl made similar threats over the weekend.

Deptford police say two youths will be charged with false public alarm for making similar threats.
