PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona has joined more than a dozen other states in providing a verification program that allows people to use the Social Security website to obtain replacement Social Security cards by going online.

The state Department of Transportation says the verification system uses data from a person’s driver’s license to confirm the validity of a request for a replacement Social Security card.

The department says the verification is offered in conjunction with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.
