Police told reporters Wednesday that a fatal shooting in Beaverton, Oregon, a city just outside Portland, was a murder-suicide involving two children and their father.

Multiple Portland TV stations reported the three people were found dead at Redwood Creek Apartments, in the area of Southwest Mill Drive and Greenway Boulevard.

According to the Oregonian newspaper, the deaths were two children — a 6-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl — and their father, 36. No names were immediately provided to reporters in Oregon.

Sgt. Mike Rowe, a Beaverton police spokesman, said the bodies were discovered just before 4:30 p.m. PDT by a female relative.

Officer Bryan Dalton, another Beaverton Police spokesman, told reporters that after a negotiating team was sent to the apartment complex, a gunshot was heard and police re-entered the apartment.

The Oregonian reported that police were quickly able to discern that the scene was a murder-suicide and are not looking for any further suspects or warning the public of any further threat.
